Lyrics
It all started, in my younger days
Finding my path, and finding my ways
My Daddy told me, of all those before
And the trials, of all that they endured
I heard many stories, of how it was back when
Drinking and fighting, was a common trend
The fighting Irish, was rightly named so
After the work, we could drink and they would go
It was a hard life
To come to this country
To slave away your life
Then finally be free
You really have no choice
If you know what's in-store
Live your life in poverty
Or take a chance for more
I heard many stories, Grandad I didn,t know
Catch him on Friday, or the check it would not show
Granma was always there, with food on the table
If Grandad couldn,t work, then my uncles were able
I will remember, the lessons that I learned
From my Grandma, and all that she did warn
Watch-out for that whiskey, is the thing she told to me
If it's so delicious, from heaven it must be
